HPM Building Supply’s President and CEO Mike Fujimoto and Vice President and COO Jason Fujimoto recently were awarded top national industry honors by the North American Retail Hardware Association.
For his entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and overall merit in operations, Mike Fujimoto was selected as one of the home improvement industry’s Top Guns by the NRHA, Hardware Retailing Magazine and the National Hardware Show.
Established in 2007, the Top Gun award is considered the highest honor an independent home improvement retailer can receive from the industry.
“I am indeed honored to have been a recipient of the Top Gun award from the North American Retail Hardware Association,” Fujimoto said. “Please know that in accepting this award, I am really accepting the award on behalf of our entire HPM team.
“One of the factors that has led to our success, good times and bad, and which allowed us to distinguish ourselves nationally is the fact that HPM is driven by the caring, energy and enthusiasm of all of our HPM owner-employees.”
Mike Fujimoto’s son and a fifth-generation Fujimoto, Jason, along with eight others were named as 2015 Young Retailers of the Year by the NRHA. The recognition program identifies and honors the next generations of independent home improvement retailers and honors individual achievements of those age 35 and younger.
“With our upcoming investment in our retail stores on the Big Island, we look forward to evolving our walk-in customer experience, and becoming an even better partner to pro builders as well as homeowners in the next 94-years,” Jason Fujimoto said.
Father and son were honored in May at the 2015 National Hardware Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Since its start 94 years ago as a small family-operated lumber mill, HPM Building Supply — now 100 percent employee-owned — has grown to include three full-service building supply centers and four lumber yards on Hawaii Island, and full-service building supply centers and lumberyards on Oahu and Kauai.
The company manufactures pre-engineered trusses and wall-panels, metal roofing and pre-hung doors, and treats its own lumber.
